Friend Organizations and Partners

As an all-volunteer organization, we believe in creating dynamic partnerships with preservation and architecture organizations across the country. Along with our thirteen regional chapters, and friend organization, Houston Mod, Docomomo US is proud to work with and highlight the efforts of local partners. From our annual Tour Day in October to co-sponsored lectures and advocacy efforts, Docomomo US is committed to working with organizations whose mission, like ours, seeks to raise the interest in and preservation of the modern movement in the United States.

Friend Organizations
Docomomo US recognizes that there are a number of regional organizations in the United States which share Docomomo US’s mission and values. Becoming a Friend Organization offers a means to enhance communication and cooperation between an organization, their members and Docomomo US.

Houston Mod is a non-profit, membership organization dedicated to promoting knowledge and appreciation of modern architecture and design in Houston and Texas. Houston Mod advocates the preservation of this cultural legacy and seeks support from its members and the general public in achieving this goal.

ModernSTL was formed in 2010 with a mission of the identification, education, preservation and celebration of St. Louis modernism. Led by local architecture enthusiasts and historic preservationists, the non-profit seeks to protect local mid-century modern structures while fostering a deeper appreciation of them through events, tours, preservation efforts and its website/blog at

North Carolina Modernist Houses (NCMH) is a nonprofit organization committed to documenting, preserving, and promoting residential Modernist architecture.  Started in 2007, and originally called Triangle Modernist Houses (TMH), NCMH expanded to cover not only all of North Carolina but many of the most well-known Modernist houses and architects in the US.

Palm Springs Modernism Week is an exciting 11-day celebration of mid-century modern design, architecture and culture.

Indiana Landmarks formed the Indiana Modern committee to offer modern structures some protection by creating more awareness and appreciation of their value. The committee works to educate Hoosiers about the importance of preserving landmarks from the mid-twentieth century, promote Modernist sites, and supply information about protecting them.  Landmark Columbus is an organization that formed as a project of Heritage Fund – The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County.
